Penetration Tester

Penetration Testers simulate cyberattacks to identify vulnerabilities in systems, networks, and applications before malicious actors can exploit them.

 

Responsibilities

  • Conduct penetration tests on networks, applications, and systems.
  • Develop detailed reports of findings and recommend remediation.
  • Use automated tools and manual techniques to assess security posture.
  • Collaborate with development and operations teams on security improvements.
  • Stay current with new threats and testing methodologies.

 

Key Skills

  • Proficiency with pen testing tools (e.g., Metasploit, Burp Suite).
  • Understanding of network protocols and operating systems.
  • Scripting knowledge (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
  • Knowledge of OWASP Top 10 and common exploits.
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills.

 

Recommended Certifications

  • Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH).
  • Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP).
  • CREST Registered Penetration Tester (CRT).
  • Microsoft Certified: Cybersecurity Architect Expert
